(By Comrade Dayo Onibiyo)
It is important to take a deep and non-emotional look at the call made or the assumed position of Distinguisged Senator (Dr.) Ekeremadu, made on the floor of the Senate of the Green Chambers of Nigeria during a discuss on the rising personality attacks in Kogi State as alleged against Yahaya Bello the Governor of Kogi State, vis a vis Kano and Kaduna States respectively.
It sounds shocking to most Nigerians, particularly those who looked at the Deputy Senate President from the perspective of an opposition and also of man who hates Buhari and possibly a man who once or still stands trial under Buhari.
Meanwhile, some see him from the angle of a man who sees heavy injustice allowed to wear Babariga and cap perfumed with expensive deadly odourant, moving on the street in broad day light unchallenged and rather crowned and escorted by apparatus of the State.
From a not too long position, the fact that Ekeremadu is a PDP man will not fly as APC Senators also took their time and turn to bash the suspected man at the centre of violence in Kogi State, at least as now reported even by his own kins man, Distinguished Senator Ogembe, and Ebira man like the Governor. the same axis where a labour man was hacked to death some few months ago, purportedly during the faceoff on Non Academic staff screening and salty issues.
If we also look at the position of trials, under which Ekeremadu is or was, it will be cleared too, that, other Senators who are not under trial condemned in strong terms the kids glove treatment the Buhari Government is given insecurity as the case of Kwankwaso was filtered in and that of the demolisher, chief el Rufai was mentioned.
Quickly, before looking like what led to the fall of the Shagari regime and the consequent events of hauling into detentions, the various politicians then, like Late Rimi, Jim Nwobodo, Ekuweme, Senate President's father, Bola Ige, and several others, let me remind us that whoever, is calling or wish there is a coup is not doing that, because he wants to escape PROSECUTION, or does anyone think the military will not prosecute! No, No, obviously from the coups transiting from civilians to military, there had always been coup and there will be, so that knocks off the fact that, avoiding prosecution is the factor, as a matter of fact Pa. Buhari himself will be tried if there is any void de tat now. I hope not.
The key issue here is the *FEAR OF LAWLESSNESS*, which is on a volcanic volatile rise unchecked and no sign that it would be checked in anytime soon.
The Buhari government seems to want to *feast on lawlessness* to remain in power come 2019 and that shows that he (Buhari) is either denied of the truthful position of security situations in Nigeria since Obasanjo's third term bid failed or he clearly refused to read it or hackened to it.
One thing that is clear in Nigeria today is that *you can't force yourself to remain in power,* even from the time of late despotic General Sanni Abacha, a full fledged uniform dictator ruling by decrees and several deaths in the land, he was still got stocked by whatever, due to the new dawn in Nigeria natural leadership evolution.
If we have come to a state and situation you can no longer visit your State or any part of your nation like in the case of Kwankwanso in Kano or the sudden bulldozing of the house of a supposed political enemy, even inside the same APC political party without Court Orders or ruling, if we have come to a situation where a person organize a programme to "empower" or better still help his people as in the case of Senator Ogembe in his home town in Kogi State, the same place with the sitting Governor, Yahaya Bello and thugs had a free day attacking armless citizens, it's nothing than a FAILED STATE and mathematically a q.e.d situation.
These are clear heights of lawlessness and the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is at the moment helpless, look also at the several killings going on in Benue State, see the fresh case in Plateau even as the President visits; see the Dapchi Girls fresh kidnap, which only attracts the like of number of those kidnapped comparison.by a supposed Presidential spokes man, Femi Adesina. Which seems.to be saying more that *more nos were kidnapped in one drove under GEJ than under Buhari*, so sad.
See the TARABA experience, see the one in Ekiti, see the one in Shaki in Oyo State and so on. The new dimension is borderless, happens anywhere, Boko Haram even had flash points knows as North East, but today Fulani Herdsmurdermen enters anywhere on peoples own land and waste them and their properties, while a group calls itself Ma Allah Mayeti Cattle group issuing repulsive and violent statements openly unarrested!
It is worse now, because it is getting very glaringly political, that the Government of the day is interested in using intimidations, attacks and other evil vices to cow in opponents.
Let us take a deep look at the Dino Melaiye recent case in Abuja, where a group of men referred to as SARS were reported to have laid siege for him outside a competent Court of jurisdiction where he is standing trial as charged by the same Police under which SARS is!
I therefore, wonder like a not blinded Nigerian and observers, what was the reason why SARS a unit in the Police Force will lay siege for the same man, the Police brought to Court? Or are those men not SARS or SARS is no more under the Police whose IG? Who reports and take instructions from the President Pa. Mohamadu Buhari who is the Commander-in-Chief? Why didn't they, the Police/SARS add the supposed new charge that the arrest is meant to achieve to the existing ones in Court? Or so indicate before the Court that day,? Why must they lay siege or are they not Police or its unit?or could it be Kidnappers that disguised? Meaning more insecurity as the Police in Abuja denied knowledge of their presence and purpose.
All these under the watch of the IG and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and to a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who ordinarily should be entitled to self recognition, so what is the fate of an *ordinary citizen of Nigeria*?
The problem is not these events happening but *it's not been nipped in the board* or rather it's been caressed or dressed in a robe of *untouchable*, this is rather sad, unfortunate and an ingredient to attract coupists.
I share the frustration point of Ekeremadu who seems to see beyond what ordinary Nigerians can see, I will rather want his words to be taking seriously by the incumbent Government in Nigeria, under Pa. Buhari, and get serious about not creating any monster or monsters who will or is already known to be *ABOVE THE LAWS*!
Let it be clear that, these present *acts of impunity and Above the Law* status will be resisted more than it is being resisted today.
They in GOVERNEMNT and powers, should do a trip to pre-present democracy struggle from IBB closing days to Abacha MKO era; (Military to Democracy), a good and close study of that buffer period, will help thier understanding on how not to *suppress Nigerians* or use the obnoxious, weak, lily livered and cancerous tactics of *lawlessness* to override any person or persons or group of persons.
The Shagari regime fell to coup, through the same call made by politicians or assumed to be made by politicians who were groaning under the then Shagari NPN led Federal Government, supports by the emerging terrible.economic hardship, funny enough, the coup was led by the same Buhari then in uniform, announced by Brigadier General Nimin Dongoyaro... hmmmmmm
If a power that should protect becomes lawless, it could attract lawless response and lead to.a.lawless means of uprooting the lawlessness and that used ultimately to enthrone a lawful power that will ensure the rule of law, not minding whose ox is gored as provided for in the Constitution that binds Nigeria as a Nation.
If we cherish democracy, let us all protect it by been LAWFUL.
A word is enough for the wise, *in a lawless situation, anything is possible*
